Bench Footings

On many Toronto lots — attached townhouses, semi-detached homes on tight property lines, and heritage houses with fragile rubble foundations — underpinning is either impractical or unnecessarily invasive. Bench footings let you lower the floor while leaving the original footings entirely undisturbed.

We pour an angled, reinforced concrete bench along the inside of the perimeter walls, transferring load safely outward while the centre of the slab drops to the new elevation. It is faster, less expensive, and structurally conservative — the trade-off is a benched perimeter, which many homeowners finish as built-in seating, shelving, or mechanical runs.
